Follow a family of four on our continued adventures as crofters on the Scottish Isle of Rum where we are building a new life from a bare field up. Off-grid, low-impact, self sufficient, permaculture inspired living in a wild and beautiful island with a small community with big ideas. The wandering may have stopped but we'll never lose the sense of wonder.
Loads! Currently 5 turkeys (one is for Easter roast dinner, the others are for eggs / breeding), 7 ducks, 8 geese and about 40 chickens. The chickens are due a cull actually, too many cockerels meaning they are starting to fight a bit and the hens are getting too much attention. We're planning to keep about 4 of them, but there are at least 10 down there so we'll have a fair few for the freezer. We have 10 more ducks and 10 more turkeys on order, arriving in April.
How many birds do you have now?
